I’m a 4th-year medical student at New York Medical College originally from San Francisco.  Here is why I joined Ride for World Health:

Never in my life have I owned a bike.
How, you ask, this Ride did I find?
Minh told me I’d have the time of my life.*
He did not mention a sore behind.

I first mounted a bike at the age of nine.
My dad ran beside with me in tow.
Only with training wheels could I ride fine.
And the bicycle quickly became my foe.

The next time I rode a bike was in Paris.
My friends decided to go on a bike tour.
Soon after take off, a parked car I nearly missed.
I couldn’t believe there were two hours more.

My goal is to complete this cross-country ride
I can’t wait to meet new people and have a ball.
By the end I hope to master riding a bike.
Mostly, I hope to open dialogue about health care for all.

* Minh was a R4WH National Rider in 2007.
