I look for any excuse to meld the field of medicine, fitness, fun, and the outdoors.  For example, I am a co-founder and race director of the Mid-Atlantic Medical Adventure Race (MedWAR) that tests survival skills and wilderness medicine.  My time is spent doing the usual med school stuff, volunteering, cycling, and running.

Anyone who knows me will vouch for my love of community service and athleticism.  Any chance to combine the two and I’m first in line to sign up.  Large events are great at getting out a message while fundraising for a worthy cause.  I saw this first hand during the marathons and half-marathons I ran for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team 'n' Training.

So how did I get involved with the R4WH?  It is a pretty simplistic story.  After thoroughly enjoying a couple of week-long bike tours, I was dreaming about one day doing a cross-country bike ride.  I thought this would be many years down the road until a fellow medical student told me about the Ride for World Health.  Yep, you got it.  My first question was, "Where do I sign?"  Talk about a perfect fit… world health and cycling!
