R4WH National Team Rider
New Haven, CT
Medical Student, Yale
I'm a Connecticut man through and through, born and raised in West Hartford,
and currently finishing my fourth year of medical school at Yale. I am
applying for residency in internal medicine, and hope to follow that with
fellowship training in cardiology.
I decided to pursue a career in internal medicine for the same reason that I
decided to go to medical school in the first place - because I want to help
people who need it. My mother has spent the last 35 years teaching at an
inner-city elementary school in Hartford, working her tail off to give her
students the education that they deserve, and I learned the value of service
from her example. That commitment to service has led me all over the world,
from Kenya to Honduras to the northern Himalayas, where I have seen
first-hand how much of the world's population has been denied the basic
health services that we take for granted simply because of the location of
their birth.
I decided to do the ride because I want to raise awareness of these global
health care disparities, because I want to remind myself exactly why I chose
this career, and because I want to have one last great adventure before I
begin my residency. I'm excited to get started.
