R4WH Director of Major Events / National Team Rider
The Ohio State University College of Medicine
Marion, OH
I was born in Cartagena, Colombia so I had an early introduction and vested interest in global health. I was raised in Marion, Ohio “the heart of it all” and have been a buckeye since 2001. Most of my extended family still live in Colombia S.A., so for me, global health is a real time issue.
The idea of raising awareness and funds for organizations that supports health care for people in developing countries is very exciting.
I was very inspired by the ride as a first year medical student and pinky-swore to take part in it. I have been involved in the International Health Interest group as a medical student and am planning to go to Peru for a month as a fourth year. I know the ride has had a strong impact in inspiring me to get involved and I know it can do the same for everyone who gets to experience it.
I am interested in some day practicing either Psychiatry or Internal medicine. I am also especially interested in mental health in the developing world. I am grateful to get a chance to participate in the ride and especially to educate others about global health. |
