Catholic University, DC
Bobby grew up and went to college in the Washington, DC area. When he graduated, he worked for a television production company interviewing celebrities for an entertainment news show. After about a year he quit his job and moved for two years to Tanzania as a volunteer.
While in East Africa, Bobby became interested in health and medicine, and when he returned, he pursued a master’s degree in public health at Columbia University in New York. His studies focused on urbanism and how the built environment impacts health (as in, if we had safe biking lanes, more people could bike places improving their health and the quality of the air). During his time in New York he also worked with some great people at the New York City and New York State health departments.
After grad school, Bobby moved to Atlanta to work for the Centers for Disease Control. In 2006, Bobby left the CDC and started a post-baccalaureate/pre-medical program at Agnes Scott College. He is currently in the process of applying to medical school and hopes to start in the Fall of ’08.
Having always thought it would be fun to ride cross-country, Bobby is excited to try it while getting to speak about and raise funds for public health.
