Hesperia, CA

We biked 25 miles in the cold rain to get to Stanley Oswold Elementary School in Walnut, CA. We gave our very first presentation to five 2nd grade classes on ways to be healthy. They were very well-behaved and very knowledgable about nutrition and exercise. We were very impressed! We were even fed a warm crockpot lunch at the school, which was exactly what we needed to start the 50-odd mile journey ahead of us. There was a 90% chance of rain and possible storms. Sure enough, not even 5 miles into the ride, the rain began. Follow that with winds, thunder, and lightning. It was only a matter of time, but the ride was called due to lightening. We all made it safe to Hesperia after spending much of the afternoon warming up in the vans and in restaurants. We stayed in a school gymnasium and were provided with a wonderful kitchen stocked with hot chocolate. Although the ride was rough, the day turned out to be a lot of fun. We ended it with basketball games and a movie.

Over the hump of Pahrump to Las Vegas!

Great Job Cyclers. Saw you riding up the long enduring hill from Pahrump, NV to Viva Las Vegas!! It aroused my curiousity when I continued passing (in the opposite direction), all these cyclers in bright team jerseys. I kept going and then saw the 2 Vans pulled off at an exchange point. Got the website info and now I'm well acquainted with you all ;) and your Mission for Improving World Health!! Great Job on your hard work. Maybe next time I can offer my home as a Host....approx. 8 miles from your exchange point. I will definitely be following your Travels. Ride Hard and Enjoy our beautiful Red Rock and mountainous landscapes in Las Vegas. We have a large community of Cyclers in Vegas! We Welcome You!!
