Leaving Las Vegas

Today we left the Sin City and started on a long stretch of much less populated places. After three days in a row of climbing and 80+ mile days I think the whole team needed a break. Unfortunately the rest day was filled with lots of errands: laundry, grocery shopping, answering emails, etc. However we all went out for Korean BBQ for dinner and it was many people's first time so that was pretty exciting. After dinner most of the team walked along The Strip and caught one of the water fountain shows at the Bellagio (check it out on our facebook page: www.facebook.com/RideForWorldHealth). For this ewho haven't been to Vegas before The Strip is the main street along which many of the famous hotels and casinos are located. It is a bustling place with lots of neon lights, street entertainers and vendors, tourists, and of course as in any tourist locale people trying to sell you things. Compared to our campgrounds the last two nights where we could see all the stars in the skies and coyotes howling back and forth to each other it was a lot of sensory input. While everyone had fun I think what most people appreciated the most was the hot shower with good water pressure in a clean bathroom. Not only did we leave Vegas today but we also left behind four of our portions riders who had been with us from the first day. They had integrated fantastically into the team and we were sad to see the four of them go. They were all heading back to Ohio and we hope they will be able to joins us when we ride through there in a few weeks. Speaking for myself I hope The Rockies will have me in good enough shape by then that they don't even know what flew by them as I pass them alon the road! Internet access has been a bit spotty but we are doing our best to keep you updated on our progress via this blog and our facebook page.
